Ramblings of the NWA XD
Another legend gone

Jack Brisco won the NWA World’s Heavyweight title in 1973 from Harley Race, lost it briefly and won it back from Giant Baba, and then lost it to Terry Funk in 1975. Prior to winning the title, he engaged in some of the greatest matches ever against then-champ Dory Funk, Jr., while attempting to wrest the title from Junior.

In the 70s, Jack Brisco WAS wrestling in Florida. I remember growing up in Philadelphia, and watching fuzzy, UHF broadcasts of Eddie Graham’s Championship Wrestling from Florida at midnight on Wednesdays. Brisco was amazing. Whether it was Paul Jones, Bob Roop, or whomever, the matches were athletic, grueling contests that took the crowds (and I mean, CROWDS) through the gamut of emotions. Those fans loved Jack Brisco. And, night after night, he delivered.

A true legend. The term is probably overused. Not in this case. Jack Brisco. Legend. Godspeed.
